London is no doubt one of the world’s largest food capitals, the city lures in people for its trends, landmarks, and chefs from Mexico to Tokyo. So here is the (not so official) London guide for the best places in town…
With its glass frontage and smooth leather seats, this 30’s style brasserie restaurant is located in the heart of Mayfair. Whether you’re in the mood for a cappuccino at lunch or 175ml of pleasure before dinner, Hush offers classic contemporary European dishes and an extensive wine collection. Sadly, my experience with the service was slow, however, their signature burgers and (my personal favourite) Grilled Tiger Prawn Venetian Curry Risotto are worth the wait!
This hugely popular eatery is situated on the busy streets of Holborn, serving a modern twist on traditional dishes such as Budae Jjigae and Dolsot Bibimbap, each unique dish is laced with their own authentic flavours. Korean cuisine is generally known to be heavily meat based, but not to worry, Kimchee is vegan-friendly serving dishes with tofu in addition to the popular choices of pork and chicken. The warm lit aura and the sleek gallery style wood-line setting are perfect for work lunches during the day and date nights with the Mrs. The service was prompt and the prices are modest, but overall it’s a definite guarantee to be a great night.
3. The Alchemist
In the hub of London’s financial district, this vintage-modern bar, and restaurant beckons to all the Instagrammers out there hunting for the perfect boomerang. With prices from as low as £5, after a long week at the office, you can kick-start the weekend with the mixologists.
The smoky old-fashioned (not referring to the drink) atmosphere and the vessels used to create these exquisite, concoctions of cocktails (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) adds theatre and life to the scene and enchants those who watch. Alongside your drinks, I would recommend the bar snacks platter, but sure not to order too much! (I made the grave mistake of doing so) there are plenty of nibbles from nachos to battered prawns for everyone.
Hope you enjoyed this mini-review of restaurants (plus bar), ^-^
