Review: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream – Budapest and Madrid

The final part of doing my make up is lipstick, which in my opinion is the best part, right after highlighter.

The colour range of the collection has a mixture of deep browns, warm nudes, bright oranges and corals, and for the bolder, there are purples and even a navy blue. From the collection, I picked up Budapest and Madrid.

Budapest is my everyday go to, the lip colour its self could be described as a deep mauve with red undertones. Madrid, on the other hand, is a true red, but don’t feel put off, the colour is a mixture of medium and deep red tones so it’s not at all intimidating to wear and is very versatile with a lot of looks.

The formula is neither a lipstick or a lipgloss. It applies very smoothly and feels very silky and sets to a matte finish, but not overly matte that your lips end up being chapped and dry.

The application is smooth and the pigmentation is great, it’s not blotchy and the colour applies evenly on to the lips. However, I don’t like the applicator its self, it’s not as plump and fluffy, it’s quite hard and compact and makes applying the lip cream a little messy and difficult, so I tend to use a cotton bud to clean up around the edges of my lips. Also, the lip cream is really easy to take off and doesn’t stain your lips.

The durability of this lip cream is very long lasting until you start eating, so I always carry it with me and do a few touch ups after my meal.

Overall, I find myself not buying or using any other lip products apart from NYX’s soft matte lip creams. I think it’s so worth buying because they’re an amazing drug store product without an overly priced tag attached.

Hope this was helpful!

Love,
Nisha
